Enabling Technologies

Well, Enabling Technology, such as the RevoLix, are really important to my practice because it allows rural areas, such as Bellingham, Washington, to have access to this technology. Service and Manufacturing

I trust HealthTronics to make sure that all of our equipment is serviced in an appropriate time; that we get upgrades - whether it's software, hardware or a new piece of equipment. If I'm going to provide service to my patients in this environment, I have got to know that I'm going to get the most up-to-date equipment and any new piece of equipment that my competition in another state is going to have is provided to me in a timely fashion.

Billing and Collections

The only way that HealthTronics, to my knowledge, is involved in billing and collecting is what they receive from the hospital. They certainly don't bill the patients - the hospital bills the patients, we bill the patients. But, the fact that HealthTronics makes sure that the hospital pays for the use of the different machines is comforting to me because I don't have to do it. And then I know that HealthTronics is going to then in turn pay the expenses for me and then give me the profit.

Tax and Accounting

The HealthTronics organization provides for K-1s and tax and accounting for all of the partnerships. They are an open book as far as the accounting and the flow of funds through partnerships. They will bend over backwards to explain the strengths and weaknesses of each partnership and they make their ledgers open to any and all observer partners.

Staffing and Certification

One of the RNs that provides service on the lithotripsy truck has been with the organization since 1989. She has a really good sense of sedation techniques and patient care that she's derived over the years and is invaluable in our treatment of stone disease.

Risk Mitigation

In medicine we get taken advantage of so many times. I wish I had back three fourths of every dollar I've ever invested with somebody I thought had a good scheme. The reputation of HealthTronics is what I rely on a lot. I trust them. I've worked with them, now, for many years. I know the generals. And I think that's important in any relationship so that you don't throw this money out there and have a large risk of losing any percentage of it. So you just have to know the people you're dealing with.

You know, I don't have a deep understanding of all the regulatory issues and compliance from state-to-state. With these partnerships, and I think that's another reason to have such a large legal staff at HealthTronics to take care of all that stuff so that the "T"s are crossed and the "I"s are dotted and we as doctors can just be doctors and don't have to worry about that.

Operations and Scheduling

We've found that the HealthTronics' operation and scheduling has been very cooperative with us in that adding emergency or semi-emergency cases has been very easy to do. We find that even on weekends we can provide coverage in emergency cases with our lithotripter.

Legal and Contracting

My expectations are that HealthTronics' legal department will handle all of the legal business and the contracting with the hospitals for me. And I can trust them to do a good job with it and I don't have to worry about it.

TotalCare Impact

The single biggest impact that HealthTronics has had on our practice, I'll answer that in two ways. Currently, it has allowed us to stay on the cutting edge of technology in a very comfortable fashion. Not feeling like we're really stepping out and putting ourselves at risk. Partnering with HealthTronics has allowed us to do that quite comfortably. Potentially, looking down the road, again, I see HealthTronics able to expand that to an even greater level in that technology that is clearly not affordable or available to a 1, 2, 3 man practice - even an 8, 9 man practice - what they've got the ability to do is consolidate practices in such a way where major technologies are available in very cost-effective, manageable fashion that benefits both the practice from a business standpoint and HealthTronics from a partner standpoint.
